Organisations host GBV awareness campaign

Various organisations came together on Saturday to create awareness of GBV.

Langaville – Langaville’s Finest in conjunction with Focus 1 Student Accommodation and Meetse embarked on an anti-gender-based violence (GBV) 5km run on Saturday.
The event took place in Milpark, Johannesburg.
Participants were encouraged to donate sanitary towels that will be distributed to underprivileged learners in high schools.
The founder of Langaville’s Finest, Gift Makeke explained how men must take a stand against GBV.

“The mission is to create a community of responsible and empathetic young men as the nation’s future fathers and husbands.
“Our thinking is that all men have a role to play against the abuse of women and we need to call out our friends.
“Moreover, we all become guilty of women abuse when we fail to reprimand perpetrators,” he said.
He added that GBV is a serious problem in the community.
“We also targeted students from different backgrounds to represent the demographics of our country and stand in solidarity against the GBV fight.
“We are shaping the future of this great nation.
“The plan is to continue creating awareness around the subject in our townships,” explained Makeke.
