Suspects in attempted Geluksdal cash-in-transit heist still on the run

Police are investigating an attempted cash-in-transit heist that took place in Geluksdal on Tuesday afternoon.

Tsakani – Police are investigating an attempted cash-in-transit heist that took place in Geluksdal on Tuesday afternoon.

EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said the EMPD Tsakani Precinct received a call from dispatch informing them of a shoot-out occurring on Twelve Road.

“On arrival at the scene, the police discovered that the perpetrators had fled and no money was taken.

“There was a motor vehicle abandoned by the perpetrators, allegedly used in the attempted heist, in the middle of the street.

“The EMPD officers cordoned off the scene, closing off Twelve Road from Geluksdal Ext 12 to Kwa-Thema near a church,” she explained.

Thepa added no arrests have been made and the vehicle allegedly used by the perpetrators has been seized pending investigation.

“Traffic was redirected to Black Road for motorists who wanted to go to Brakpan and Springs, while other motorists detoured through Geluksdal Ext 13,” she added.
