MMC for Health visits Reiger Park Clinic unannounced
MMC for health and social development to continue with her surprise visits to local clinics.
MMC for Health and Social Development Clr Charlotte Zitha conducted an unannounced visit to the Reiger Park Clinic on Friday morning.
This was part of her efforts to introduce patients to the Central Chronic Medicines Dispensing and Distribution (CCMMD) programme.
The CCMDD programme was introduced by the National Department of Health in 2014 to expand and foster simple access to chronic medication.
Zitha said that the free collection system is for registered patients who can now access their medication from a convenient outlet or pick-up point.

Patients may pick up pre-packaged medication at pharmacies accredited by the National Health Department such as Clicks, Dis-Chem, Medirite and Pick n Pay.
“To reduce the number of people queuing at clinics, certain patients have automatically had their prescriptions extended and do not need to return to the clinic for their review,‘’ said Zitha.
She also encouraged patients to abide by the storage requirements of their medication and to take their medication as advised by their healthcare practitioners.
And has committed to undertaking such unannounced visits to local health facilities to promote professionalism at the clinics and good healthcare.
