MMC for Health and Social Development offers a helping hand

MMC donates water bottles at Calcot Dhlethu Clinic.

Kwa-Thema – The MMC for Health and Social Development, Clr Charlotte Zitha donated 5l water bottles to the Calcot Dhlepu Clinic in Tsakani on Tuesday.

The facility is one of the many critical public facilities that are affected by water scarcity in the metro.

The water bottles will supplement the water which is delivered by the metro through water tankers on a daily basis.

Zitha explained that the intervention was necessitated by water supply interruptions across the metro due to critically low reservoir levels caused by high water consumption and Rand Water’s stage two restrictions.

The facility manager and chief nurse, Mmatsie Sigudu, said: “The donated water came as a relief to the clinic as we use water for essential purposes such as mixing medication for paediatrics and for drinking purposes.”

In the meantime, the city has employed various measures to improve the reservoir levels and restore full supply to all areas and facilities.
