Ward 77 committee members to raise funds for burnt shacks
A car wash fundraiser for victims of shack fire.
Kwa-Thema – Ward 77 committee members will be hosting a car wash fundraiser on November 26 at the corner of Kgaswane and Joe Mzamane streets in Kwa-Thema.
A committee member heading the youth sector, Lungile Jele said, “We are raising funds to be able to buy material to build shelters for the two families whose shacks burned down in October.
“It would give us great joy to see the families having shelter again.”
Jele said they planned a fundraiser earlier in the month. However, they had to postpone it due to the rainy weather the past few weeks. The two shacks burned down in October in Kwa-Thema Ext Three.

A man lived in one of the shacks while in the other houses a family of three, a mother with two boys aged 11 and 13.
The cause of the fire is still unclear. However, it is suspected to have been caused by a two-plate stove.
The man currently stays with neighbours and the family is now in Mzumbe with relatives. Jele said they would also appreciate donations such as food parcels and clothes.
