Agape Ministry Christian Training Centre will be hosting a fundraising gala dinner on December 10 at the church.
The gala dinner is aimed at sourcing funds for sewing machines, food, books and other things needed by the church.
Pastor Bafanozi Ntsele said, “We have a Bible school at the church which takes place on weekdays and a children’s ministry which takes place every Saturday.
“We need funds to make sure that these classes run properly.”
Ntsele said their Bible school is free as most people are unemployed and are also older, as the oldest is 68.
The church also had a graduation ceremony where the Bible school students graduated on November 12.
“We need Bibles and stationery for the Bible school, but cannot afford them,” said Ntsele.
Ntsele also fears that the children who attend the Saturday children’s ministry may stop coming as the church cannot afford to provide them with food after their sermons.
The sermons start at 11:00 and finish at 14:00.
“We also need at least three computers to teach the children computer basics.
“We also teach them the Bible in English. As a result of this, two of them received English awards at school. One of the two is still in Grade Three.
“We also need activities which will be able to bring the children together and equip them with knowledge,” said Ntsele.
He mentioned that their services are held in a shack which is in an unsafe area and they have to use the Catholic Church for their classes.
Ntsele said, “Our classes take place weekdays from 09:00-12-00, 14:00-16:00 and 17:00-19:00.”
He said people can choose when they come. However, a person can only come once a week.
“With most people being unemployed getting equipment such as washing machines and baking equipment will help in teaching them catering, deco and cooking skills. As we can equip them with skills, they get to sell their products and be able to put bread on their tables,” said Ntsele.
Ntsele concluded by requesting all those who can sponsor the church directly or through the planned gala dinner.
