Kwa-Thema SAPS has a new station commander
Kunene is ready to fight crime in Kwa-Thema.
Kwa-Thema – Colonel Nhlanla Welcome Kunene is the new station commander of Kwa-Thema SAPS. Kunene has been acting in the position for the past six months.
He previously led the Kwa-Thema Detective Services until his promotion to colonel and appointment as station commander last month.
Kunene has vowed to keep the streets safe during the festive season and into the new year. He said he is concerned about the high number of withdrawal of cases, especially rape and sexual assaults.
“These cases are often opened as a form of punishment or means to extort payment from the arrested party.
“The trend adds to the already heavy workload on members and is wasteful in terms of resources both in manpower and equipment, which could be better used to prevent and combat crime,” he said.
Kunene added that his door is always open to all to answer any complaints and questions.
