AZAPO is inviting all its members and sympathisers to join them in commemorating the death of Mthuli ka Shezi in Thembisa on December 16.
Mthuli was pushed onto an oncoming train by a railway employee on December 16, 1972, at the Germiston train station. Before he died, Mthuli related events that preceded this incident.
He stated several days before the incident he had quarrelled with some colleagues after coming to the defence of a woman who was drenched with water by another employee at the station.

Days after the quarrel, he arrived at the Germiston station where he was chased and overpowered by some railway workers. He was then pushed into an oncoming train.
The police at that stage said they suspected no foul play.
Mthuli (1947-1972) was a playwright and a political activist. He was the founding member of the Azaniah People’s Organisation.
