Meet: Apostle Mapule More [Kwa-Thema resident].

Kwa-Thema resident Apostle Mapule More is a preacher and activist in the area. Her strong beliefs are on ending GBV-F, especially in the community of Kwa-Thema.

She is the current president of Kwa-Thema Ministers Fellowship, the head pastor of Tower of Restoration Family Church and a community builder working with schools and NGOs.

Q: What do you love about your township and what sets it apart from other townships?
Kwa-Thema used to be a very calm township. I’ve lived here for years. We have a library where learners can read and study while preparing for exams.

We have an old-aged home, which keeps elders safe during the day and also Luthando park where senior citizens can exercise and play soccer. Our schools also produce good results.

Q: What is your favourite family location in your township?
Bahama usually has cookouts where families can go and have a family fun day. KKK is also my favourite as there’s good food there such as braaied meat and wors, mogodu, beef liver and more. There’s also the Thami lifestyle, where I celebrated my birthday in November.

Q: What is your favourite eating spot?
Mlindo’s, sell good food. Their ribs are good and are my favourite. I have them with vegetables and sometimes with chips. KKK as well, I sometimes take other pastors there.

Q: What changes would you like to see in your township?
Service delivery is very poor. The issue of electricity is very bad, we can be left without electricity for 12 hours. Broken traffic lights go for weeks and even months without being fixed. We don’t even have a proper police station.

Too many women are killed and there are gunshots every night, It’s as if someone came with a truck and gave guns to everyone. We are told the malls surrounding Kwa-Thema in Tsakani and Sharon Park according to demarcation, that there is no space in Kwa-Thema for a mall and a multipurpose centre.

GBV-F and drug abuse are very high in this community. We have been praying, we even have multiple prayer groups however the enemy is fighting in Kwa-Thema.
