Family of 23 now have to share a four-roomed house

Shack fire leaves family with nothing.

Tsakani – A fire broke out early Monday morning in Tsakani Ext 16, burning down a six-room shack which housed six siblings and their children.

The fire broke out while the family was sleeping. Everyone escaped unharmed.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

The shack was home to 23 people, of which 17 are children.

“We have lost everything in the fire. What makes things more difficult is that we now have to stay with our mother in her four-roomed house,” said Lebohang Mthembu.

Only two people in the family are employed and there are 12 children in school. Five are in high school and seven are in primary school.

The family would appreciate any donations, including corrugated iron sheets to rebuild the home or school uniforms and clothes.

Mthembu may be contacted at 062 230 8056 or 084 806 4795.
