EMPD conducts awareness campaign on domestic violence in Duduza
Awareness on GBV and social ills in Duduza
DUDUZA – Members of the EMPD on February 12 at about 08:00 flocked to the John Dube settlement to raise awareness about domestic violence in Duduza.
A huge increase in reported cases of domestic violence in recent weeks prompted the EMPD to conduct an awareness campaign to help curb and address issues faced by the community.
The campaign aimed to reach out to members of the community, educating them on how social ills such as domestic violence as well as abuse against women and children can harm society.
Officers engaged beneficiaries of different age groups, focusing on educating men to help them become better role models and leaders in their community and to assist in protecting women and children.
The officers also went to the Methodist Church in Duduza, to speak on safety and security awareness, sharing different methods community members can use to keep themselves and their families safe.
