WATCH: No electricity leads to protests

Residents have been without power for three days.

Kwa-Thema – On Tuesday morning, the community members took to the streets protesting over a lack of electricity in Majola Street.

The residents burnt tyres on the street, demanding power.

The community of White City and a few surrounding areas had been without power since Sunday.

A community member, Maria Skosana, said they were told that there is a cable fault and that repairs were underway.

“Our groceries are rotting in the fridge; we can’t even prepare formula for our babies. This is not on. It is affecting our lives in a bad way. Yesterday was even a cold day and we had to go to bed without bathing,” said an angry Skosana.

Ward 79 Clr Njabulo Mbonani wasn’t available for comment.
