EMPD rolls out Transport Month campaigns
To promote efficient, safe and reliable transport services, the EMPD is rolling out a plan of action in line with celebrating Transport Month.
The EMPD will be conducting awareness campaigns in line with celebrating Transport Month this October.
This is aimed at promoting awareness of integrated public transport, smart licensing centers in townships, and road safety programs within the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).
The awareness is in line with the Minister of Transport Sindisiwe Chikunga’s official launch of this year’s Transport Month theme, “Siyakha, we are building”.
With the number of road fatalities increasing, the EMPD intends to encourage and educate commuters about playing safe on roadways and for motorists to adhere to the rules of the road.
With schools resuming soon, the EMPD Social Crime Prevention Unit officers will be conducting programs on scholar patrols and enhancing road safety, especially for scholars walking to and from school.
The EMPD seeks to ensure that roads are safer for everyone while working together with communities.
