Institute of Mathematics celebrates good performance
The top performers were celebrated by the Institute of Mathematics.
Langaville – The Institute of Mathematics held its Annual Maths Awards Ceremony on Saturday at the Langaville Secondary School to award top performers for their excellent work in mathematics.
The institution was established in 2011 by Ntsane Masiloane to help learners from Kwatsaduza improve their maths, science and accounting marks. Joy Global Africa and Tim Build in Springs support the institution.
This year, the institution registered more than 1 000 learners and has centres in Kwa-Thema, Duduza, Daveyton and Katlehong.
The organisation has the full support of the district director, Somikazi Chabalala, who has a passion for bringing about developments in maths. According to Ntsane, the school assists Grade One to 12 learners to boost their marks.
The top performers were Lebohang Motsiane from MOM Sebone, who took third position with 75%; Knowledge Masiloane from Springs Girls High placed second with 84%; and Ofentse Motshegwa, also from Springs Girls High, came first with 94%.
About Ofentse coming first, Ntsane said, “Ofentse has consistently attended classes since February. I am not surprised by her performance. Ultimately, one reaps what they sow.”
The top three performers each received a R4 000 bursary, while the other seven learners from the top 10 received certificates of achievement. The primary schools’ top achievers also received certificates.
Registration for 2024 at the institution is open till October 30, with limited spaces available. Parents of Grade One to 12 learners who wish to enrol can contact Ntsane on 076 889 6002.
