Youth career expo for learners

Tsakani and Geluksdal learners attended a career expo.

Geluksdal – Ubuntu Community Empowerment Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Social Development, had a youth career expo and a service blitz at the Geluksdal Community Hall on Friday.

Schools around Geluksdal and Tsakani partook in the event to learn about future careers. Social Development Community Development supervisor Nomthandazo Maphumulo said they are trying to give the learners an opportunity to think of their options after matric.

Various stakeholders and departments were at the programme, and some provided the learners with bursary application forms so they could apply in time.

Bank sectors were also available to provide learners with financial advice.

Maphumulo said learners shouldn’t think social development only hires social workers because there are many careers in the department.

A local restaurant provided the learners with food and haircuts, while Ubuntu gave them hampers. Soweto’s Finest entertained the learners.
