Tsakani couple arrested for dealing in drugs
The two occupants initially refused to open the gates for officers to enter their property.
Tsakani – Narcotics valued at R58 000 were confiscated on Thursday by the Crime Intelligence Unit.
They also arrested a 58-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman. This followed an intelligence-driven operation where information was received about the couple openly selling an illicit substance.
EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said the two occupants refused to open the gates for officers to enter their property.
“Through various attempts, they ended up cooperating with the police and upon searching the house, officers uncovered four 25l buckets filled with different narcotics, weighing 2,917kg, 2,65kg and 2,091kg respectively.
“The officers also conducted body searches and the female had 58 Ziplock bags containing an illicit substance,” she said.
The two face charges of possession of an illicit substance and possible dealing in illicit substances. They were taken to the Tsakani Police Station and expected to appear in the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court soon.
