Kwatsaduza – Youth Affected by Mining United in Action (Yamua) recently held a masculinity M2M Real Men Talk programme across Kwatsaduza in collaboration with the Siyanqoba Community Media Trust.
One of the organisers from Yamua, Thabang Ramalatsi, said, “Our focus was on boys and the issues affecting them, such as crime, drug abuse, peer pressure and suicide.”
He said because they collaborated with Siyanqoba, they added more topics to their talks, including teenage pregnancy and GBVF. Ramalatsi said they want to change how young boys see and do things.
“These issues affect our communities and aspects of life in more ways than one,” he said.
He said the sessions focused on bringing solutions to the table and how they would portray their daily challenges.
“We want these young ones to be active in art and business, and the best time to start thinking of that is now,” said Ramalatsi.
The children who attended the talks received M2M bags.
