Mayoral committee visits Duduza
The Ekurhuleni mayor together with the MMCs visited the area on Friday.
Duduza – Ekurhuleni Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana, along with Members of the Mayoral Committee visited Duduza on Friday as part of the Masisebenzeni mayoral outreach programme which takes place in communities every fortnight.
This was the first Masisebenzeni for 2024 and the programme has seen different communities visited since its launch last year.
“All MMCs are responsible do spot checks on levels of service delivery in an effort to improve the status quo,” said the mayor’s spokeperson, Yongama Mabhengu.
In Duduza, close attention was paid to water provision in the area with a visit to monitor progress on the Masechaba reservoir which is set to start distributing water in two years time.
Various other service delivery projects including the revamping of entrances and clearing of illegal dumping took place.
MMC Doctor Xhakaza said, “We take pleasure in the fact that we’ve done well so far having covered most of our townships.”
Xhakaza said they are picking up this year with Duduza just to make sure that they keep service delivery going.
“As MMCs, we are not always in boardrooms but we do come to the ground and see to it that service delivery continues,” he said.
The MMCs also cleaned an open space in Ward 86 and cut the grass. They also inspected some roads and pavements.
Residents also got an opportunity to replace their 240l wheelie bins under the supervision of the mayor and the MMCs.
The day ended with a stakeholder session to get the views of residents on issues of service delivery in Duduza.
