Man nabbed for hijacked truck
The EMPD applauds the partnership with other law enforcement agencies to crack down on lawlessness in the City of Ekurhuleni.
Duduza – EMPD Anti-Overload Unit officers arrested a 46-year-old man on March 26. The Zimbabwean national had a suspected hijacked international truck loaded with goods worth R2.7m in his possession.
According to Kelebogile Thepa, the spokesperson for the EMPD, officers received information from a tracking company about a hijacked white international truck and trailer, sought for a case opened in Lenasia.
The officers acted on the information received, and coordinates led them to an address on Sonnestraal Road, Driemanskap, where they cornered the man with the vehicle and trailer.
Upon questioning, he could not provide satisfactory answers, which led to the officers arresting him and taking him to the Duduza Police Station.
The 46-year-old, facing charges of possession of a suspected hijacked motor vehicle and possession of suspected stolen property, will appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court soon.
