Failed robbery leaves two men dead

Both suspects were shot in the upper body and were declared dead on the scene. Their bodies were taken to the Heidelberg Mortuary.

Two men died in a shootout after a failed robbery at Tonk Meter Crossing on April 21. Dunnoter SAPS responded to the scene.

According to Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the police found the victim, who alleged that he went into one of the stores to deposit money with his brother.

“While his brother was waiting in the queue, the victim went to look at cellphones. One of the thugs confronted him,” she explained.

The conversation escalated and a fight broke out. While fighting the suspect, an armed man walked towards them.

“The first suspect then instructed the second one to shoot the victim. Witnessing the commotion, the victim’s brother then approached the scene.

“The two suspects tried to shoot the two brothers. However, the brothers took out their firearms and shot at the suspects,” she added.

Both suspects were shot in the upper body and were declared dead on the scene. Their bodies were taken to the Heidelberg Mortuary.
