Foundation continues good work

Shoes are symbolic of pride and give confidence to young learners, knowing they can walk to school in comfort.

Kwa-Thema – The Masimong Foundation recently donated shoes to learners at Tlakula High School and Kenneth Masekela Secondary School.

Established in 2017 and founded by Sandi and Mike Teke, the foundation recognised the social challenges affecting the country and continuously aimed to work hand in hand with their partners and communities to create meaningful and sustainable initiatives that make a real difference.

“The shoe donation project started in 2008 before they established the foundation.

“We have been donating school shoes annually to Kwa-Thema schools and many other schools in various parts of South Africa. Unemployment has left many parents unable to afford school shoes for their children.

“Some of these children are going through difficult upbringings, under very harsh conditions of going to school with no school shoes and lacking educational support,” explained Sandi.

To them, shoes are symbolic of pride and give confidence to young learners, knowing they can walk to school in comfort.

“We believe a new pair of shoes should be tough enough to protect a young child’s feet whether it be on the playground, the sports field, walking home in the rain, or on a gravel road in the middle of winter,” she added.

At Masimong Foundation, education is a key focus area. They are committed to uplifting and empowering the youth of the communities they serve, supporting schools and hosting youth programmes that help learners reach their dreams.

“Our team is always on the road, to ensure that pairs of school shoes are donated to several schools in need every year,” she said.

Masimong Foundation believes the school shoe donation will help to relieve the financial burden on parents needing to buy school shoes for learners.
