Two men nabbed for drug possession

The pair are facing charges of possession and possibly dealing in illicit substance.

Kwa-Thema – In two separate incidents on May 15, the EMPD arrested two men for drug possession and possibly drug dealing.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit officers received a tip-off about a few addresses where illegal activities were noticed.

“Officers briefly surveyed the given addresses and noted that numbers were not adding up. At the first address they visited, a 25-year-old male was stopped and searched.

“Officers uncovered 10 pieces of rock valued at R500,” said EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.

She further explained officers proceeded to Legodi Street where they found a 50-year-old man outside the yard.

“He attempted to flee when officers approached him, but the officers cornered him. The officers found a small Ziplock bag containing khat and six Mandrax tablets valued at R350 with R20.

“Both lawbreakers are facing charges of possession and possibly dealing in illicit substances,” Thepa added.

The two men were taken to the Kwa-Thema Police Station and will appear at the magistrate’s court soon.
