Heartbreak for Cambridge FC
Back to the drawing board for Cambridge FC.
NIGEL – Local Cambridge Football Club travelled to Africa Academy for their next Hollywood Bets league match on November 2.
Initially, Cambridge FC started strongly and did most of the playing by protecting the ball. It was clear that they wanted to protect their position on top of the leaderboard.
The pitch conditions made it very difficult to play their open style of play.
Africa Academy were not afraid to attack when the opportunity presented itself. Cambridge had various opportunities in the first half to put distance between them and Africa Academy but failed to find the back of the net.
The first half remained scoreless. In the second half Cambridge searched time and again to get points on the board.

The home team handled the pressure very well and kept Cambridge from scoring on various occasions. Each time Africa Academy had an opportunity they put pressure on Cambridge’s defence.
The cracks started to show as Cambridge started to slow down and Africa Academy attacked more and more and scored the first goal.
As the match went into the final 20 minutes Africa Academy found the back of the net a second time. The final score: Cambridge 0 – Africa Academy 2.
“It is a disappointing result after all the opportunities we had but could not convert our opportunities. This is a wake-up call to not let our guard down,” said Mini Cooper Dineka, Cambridge FC head coach.
“This is what happens when you undermine the opposition and not convert the chances that presented itself. The team must learn from the disappointing result and improve,” said Ignatuis Maphike, Cambridge FC chairperson.
