African Reporter honoured for positive impact at Tsakane Heroes gala dinner

Abanqobi Social Club emerged from a shared vision of creating a close-knit community dedicated to upholding strong family values and fostering unity.

Tsakani – The African Reporter was one of the recipients of an award from the Abanqobi Social Club during the Heroes of Tsakane gala dinner held on November 16 to honour individuals and stakeholders making a difference and a positive impact in the community of Tsakani.

“The gala dinner was an elegant and inspiring evening that celebrated local heroes and the spirit of community in Tsakani,” said the Abanqobi Social Club deputy chairperson Vusi Somcuba.

Somcuba mentioned the gala dinner focused on recognising and honouring individuals who have made significant contributions to the community of Tsakani.



“These heroes may be involved in various fields such as business, education, healthcare, community development, arts and culture, and/or social justice.

“The gala served as a platform to showcase their stories and achievements, inspiring others and fostering a sense of pride in the community,” he mentioned.

Twenty-one heroes received recognition for their hard work and dedication, each contributing positively towards improving Kwatsaduza.



Among those honoured were EkFM radio station, Tsakane Mall, Mncedisi Somyo the chairperson of the Tsakani CPF, EMPD officer Justice Mukhari, the activist for land claims Jabulani Sithole, MMC Nomadlozi Nkosi, former MMC Ndosi Shongwe and many other individuals and businesses.

Somcuba added that they plan to host the gala dinner annually because they want to maintain the spirit of positive contribution to society and a culture of honouring those doing good.

“The evening went as planned; the attendance was great, and award recipients were honoured with great respect. Heroes who received awards should continue to do great in their own space while making a difference in society. By doing so, they will encourage the youth. Anything is possible, no matter the circumstances,” he concluded.
