One dead, two injured in Duduza CIT heist involving explosives

One person was killed and two critically injured during a cash-in-transit heist involving explosives in Duduza, with investigations underway

Duduza – EMPD officers swiftly responded to a cash-in-transit heist at Sonnerskraal Road in Duduza on May 5.

According to EMPD spokesperson Thabiso Makgato, primary responding firefighters from Duduza found a Mercedes-Benz apparently used on the scene by the suspects, well alight.

“One adult male alleged to have been a driver of a G4S vehicle was unfortunately declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

“The vehicle was found lying on its side in the middle of the road with clear visible explosive damages.

“Two other G4S assistants in the vehicle sustained critical injuries and were transported by ambulances and admitted to the nearest medical facility for further care,” said Makgato.

Makgato added that all other relevant law enforcement units arrived to conduct investigations, which are still underway.
