November SASSA grant payment dates changed ahead of elections

Social grant payment dates have shifted ahead of the Local Government Elections. Read to find out when older persons, disability and child grant beneficiaries can expect their money and what those under review need to know.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the revised payment dates for the November social grant payment cycle in light of the upcoming Local Government Elections.

This follows extensive consultations between SASSA and various stakeholders to ensure that social grant payments continue to be administered efficiently, securely and with minimal disruption during the election period.

Social grants will be paid as follows:

  • Older persons grant: October 30
  • Disability grant: November 2
  • Children’s grants: November 3

SASSA emphasised that the adjustment is intended to support the smooth administration of social grant payments during the elections.

The agency reminds beneficiaries whose grants are under review to respond to official communication from SASSA and attend review appointments when requested.

“The fourth-day payment on November 5 is specifically intended for beneficiaries whose grants fall within the review process,” the agency said.

The Agency urges beneficiaries not to rush to SASSA offices unnecessarily, as grant payments will be processed according to the announced schedule.

Beneficiaries are advised to continue to use SASSA’s official communication channels for accurate information and guard against misinformation and disinformation regarding social grant information.
