Tsakani SAPS seek Monti Motshweni in arson case

The Tsakani police are searching for Mangaliso ‘Monti’ Motshweni, wanted in connection with an arson case linked to a family feud. He has been on the run since May.

Tsakani – The Tsakane SAPS are appealing for help in locating Mangaliso Andries Motshweni (48), also known as ‘Monti’, who lives in Tsakani Extension 8. Motshweni is allegedly linked to an arson case that occurred on May 8.

According to Detective Sergeant Vuyo Mzangwa, the suspect and his sister have been embroiled in a dispute over a family home left to them by their late parents, which the SAPS believe was at the centre of the alleged arson.

Mzangwa said the sister was at work when Motshweni first went to the house and poured petrol around the property.

“Monti later returned and set the house on fire, destroying everything inside — all in the presence of his sister, who claims she tried to stop him but was unsuccessful,” said Mzangwa.

“Monti has been on the run since May and is aware that police are looking for him.”

The police urge anyone with information about Motshweni’s whereabouts to come forward. Call Mzangwa on 063 222 1233.
