Unbeaten Auto Ace Ayoba wins Springs Local Super League title

Auto Ace Ayoba finishes the season unbeaten with 15 consecutive wins and a R10 000 prize.

Kwa-Thema – Auto Ace Ayoba recently won the Springs Local Super League by maintaining their top position on the league standings.

The team has topped the league for months, remaining unbeaten with a perfect record of 15 wins from 15 matches.

They were the champions of the league and walked away with a trophy, medals, a new kit, and a cash prize of R10 000.

The league’s final game between Auto Ace Ayoba and Jealous Down took place at the Kwa-Thema Stadium. Jealous Down placed second in the league and received silver medals for their hard work.

Their coach, Ayabonga Nxumalo, was happy with how the game concluded, saying this was more like a promotion for them.

“This moves us from just being a development team to a super team. The first half of the game was okay, but we played too cautiously and hesitated, which mostly held us back.

“We did not attack our opponents. Had we attacked more, the game would have favoured us,” explained Nxumalo.

The team tried to rectify their mistakes in the second half. They had many scoring chances but could not utilise all their opportunities effectively.

“The game was very tough. Going forward, we will add attacking drills and focus more on our fitness as a team,” cited Nxumalo.

The game concluded in a goalless draw. Auto Ace Ayoba coach Lucky Sithole said the first half was a challenge for his team.

“We faced tough opponents and missed crucial chances that could have changed the game. Our finishing was poor, and we need to work on our decision-making in the final third. Despite the struggles, we showed resilience and determination.

“We regrouped and adjusted our strategy and came back stronger in the second half. We came out with renewed energy and determination, but unfortunately, we could not capitalise on our chances,” he said.

He added that their opponents showed great character and defended well, making it difficult for them to break through.

“Despite our best efforts, we will take this as a learning experience and work on our finishing and strategy,” said Sithole.

The team now qualifies for the playoffs to compete in the South African Breweries Regional League next season. The coach added that he was overwhelmed with joy and pride over their big win.

“Winning the Springs Local Super League is an incredible achievement for our team. We have worked tirelessly throughout the season, and it is amazing to see our efforts pay off.

“I thank our fans, coaches, and teammates for their unwavering support. This championship is a testament to our team’s dedication and perseverance. We are honoured to be champions,” he concluded.
