“No Child Should Miss School”: Kaizer Chiefs fans donate sanitary towels and toiletries in Tsakani
Over 400 sanitary towels and 435 toiletries were donated by the Greater Brakpan Kaizer Chiefs Supporters Branch to local learners in honour of Mandela Month.
Tsakani – The Greater Brakpan branch of Kaizer Chiefs supporters donated over 400 sanitary towels and 435 toiletries at Mega Primary School and Secondary on July 25.
This initiative was in honour of Mandela Day. The branch’s marketing director, Thulani Dlamini, said the aim was to give back to the community.
This initiative recognised both genders and ensured there was more than enough for every child.
“We incorporated boy children as well because many end up with anger due to being neglected or isolated. We aim to ensure learners feel included and confident. That is why we prioritised this initiative.

“These items may seem small, but they have a big impact. Many cannot afford pads and end up missing school when it is that time of the month. We are here as a collective, trying to bridge that gap because no child should miss school because of natural causes,” said Dlamini.
He mentioned that when each child has their basic needs covered, they are then able to come to school and interact as expected. He added that the learners will now focus on learning, knowing that their needs are considered.
“Every contribution counts, whether it is from a sponsor, a partner, or a community member. Next year, we plan to broaden our reach. We want to make a difference in other local schools as well by assisting them with their needs.
“We are very grateful for all the individuals, sponsors and clinics who assisted us with donations. We do this not for recognition or personal achievement, but because we are rooted in our community. We are here to serve, uplift, and make lasting change together,” he added.

The initiative received support from the EMPD and Love Life organisation. School principal Nhlanhla Zulu thanked the Greater Brakpan branch for their contributions.
He mentioned that these donations help the school meet the learners’ needs, saying the school does not have the necessary funds to do so.
“Receiving such donations brings back dignity to the children. This builds unity among the learners as well.”
Zulu mentioned that the school is open to receiving support, donations and support in projects such as maintaining the school building, buying books, and many other needs.
