Running towards change: Kwa-Thema celebrates Women’s Day with a community fun run
Be part of a movement that honours women, promotes wellness, and builds community – right here in Kwa-Thema
Kwa-Thema – The Sunday Crew Health and Fitness, in partnership with KKK Shisanyama, Mgazi Exclusive Lounge, Tshipinoto and Elevate As One Group, will host a Women’s Day 5km/10km fun run/ walk on August 9.
“We have organised this event primarily to honour and celebrate women’s participation, promote fitness and well-being, and create a comfortable, safe and supporting space for women to run, particularly those who may be new to running or feel apprehensive about running.
“Our events often foster a sense of community and encourage participation from women of all ages and abilities. This event will provide a platform to showcase awareness, education and celebrate women’s achievements and empowerment, breaking down stereotypes and aspiring others.
“It will also allow women to challenge themselves physically and mentally, and celebrate their strength and resilience,” explained Phumla Mabena from the group.
The event will be graced by the following health organisations:
• PNJ Sunshine Healthcare
• Mandla Wethu Support Group
• New Creation Movement
The organistaions will offer etiquette, motivational talks, life skills and personal development, health screening, blood pressure testing, blood sugar testing, weight and waist circumference and preventative care against chronic diseases.
“We urging the community to come in numbers in supporting our event and have the joyous fun with us,” added Mabena.
