SheReigns event in Kwa-Thema uplifts women with stories of strength, healing and purpose
The second annual SheReigns Women’s Day gathering in Kwa-Thema empowered attendees through personal stories, poetry, and messages of healing and hope.
Kwa-Thema – SheReigns recently hosted its second annual Women’s Day event at a local restaurant in Kwa-Thema.
The theme of the day was “Broken Crayons Still Colour,” a powerful reminder that even in brokenness, there is still value, purpose, and beauty.
The event featured five guest speakers who shared personal stories, spiritual insights, and empowering messages, all aligned with the overarching theme. Each speaker contributed uniquely to the day’s success.
Mary Nkabinde opened the event with a spiritually enriching message. She emphasised how God can use individuals who are often overlooked by society and elevate them for a greater purpose.
Nkabinde also stressed the important role women play in raising male children and drew examples from powerful women in the Bible to remind attendees of their inner strength, regardless of past mistakes or imperfections.
Sbongile Nkabinde, a recovered gambling addict and author of Dice of Despair, bravely shared her personal journey through addiction and recovery.

She shed light on the often-hidden struggles women face with gambling and how it can silently destroy lives before the consequences become visible.
“Her story served as a beacon of hope, illustrating that it is possible to rise again after hitting rock bottom,” said SheReigns founder Bongiwe Masombuka.
Gugu Ntatala, a young and talented poet, captivated the audience with a heartfelt poem.
“The speakers’ messages echoed words of hope, resilience, and self-worth, serving as both a reflection and a reinforcement of the day’s theme.
“Our main speaker, Sandile Tsie, delivered a motivational address that reassured and uplifted the women in attendance. He reminded us of our innate power and ability to bring about positive change, encouraging us not to be disheartened by life’s uncertainties, as everything unfolds in its own perfect timing,” added Masombuka.

The event concluded with the final speaker, Sihle Sibisi, who delivered a bold and heartfelt message on the importance of self-care and emotional healing.
Sibisi spoke with honesty and conviction about the harm women often inflict upon themselves by neglecting their well-being, driven by societal pressures and the deeply rooted abantu bazothini (“what will people say”) mentality.
Her words were a poignant reminder of the necessity for women to confront and heal from past traumas, to allow themselves the space to grieve, and to embrace their full potential. This event, while focused on raising funds to support the needs of the organisation, was above all a celebration of women.
“The aim was to celebrate their strength, resilience, and divine purpose. In line with the name of our organisation, SheReigns, the day served as a powerful affirmation that every woman is born to reign.
“Through carefully chosen speakers and uplifting messages, we aimed to inspire, empower, and remind each woman present to rise, restore her crown, and take up her rightful place in every sphere of life,” mentioned Masombuka.
