Ekurhuleni businesses battle on the field at annual industrial football games

The event also celebrated community, networking, and standout performances, including top scorer Morne Crotz and player of the tournament Karabo Morwasehla.

NIGEL – The Lasuka Lahlala Industrial Football Games brought Ekurhuleni businesses together over the weekend of September 19 to 21 at the Jim Fouche Stadium in Nigel for three days of fierce competition.

Since the establishment of the games in 2016, the businesses have met each other on the football field for one weekend each year.

It is regarded as an excellent platform to mingle, network, and build a community through sport. Various businesses participated, with sponsorship that included Dunlop, Manjoh, and BAIC.

The titleholders for the previous three years, Transvaal Galvanisers, could not continue their winning streak, and Spaar from Jet Park clinched the title in the final.

There was a good turnout of spectators and support for the teams. Morne Crotz of Imab Power finished as the weekend’s top goal scorer. The player of the tournament was Karabo Morwasehla from Spaar Jet Park.

The teams that participated were Bhubesi Fabrication, Supreme Spring, TLE, Maksal Tubes, Spaar, Imab Power, Global Wheel, Brikor, Transvaal Galvanisers, and Lianru Galvanisers.

“The tournament always shows how healthy the business connections are and that the competitive spirit prevails. We are looking forward to 2026 and what it will bring,” said Phillemon Msimango, tournament spokesperson.
