Pastor Zwane continues six-year food donation drive in Kwa-Thema
Every Thursday, Pastor Veli Zwane and volunteers at Ambassadors Faith Church pack and distribute rice, soya mince, carrots and beans, a lifeline for Kwa-Thema families.
Kwa-Thema – For the past six years, Pastor Veli Zwane has been providing rice packs to residents in need, continuing his long-standing mission to uplift the Kwa-Thema community.
The initiative began several years ago when Zwane distributed groceries to pensioners at the end of each year.
“Eventually, we realised that the grocery parcels were heavy for the elderly to carry, so we decided to focus on rice instead,” he explained.
The rice packs, donated by a local company, contain rice, soya mince, carrots, and beans, offering families a nutritious and filling meal.
Over time, several NPOs have partnered with the church, contributing quality clothing for the same beneficiaries.
“The people were very happy with the clothes they received,” said Zwane.
Every Thursday, Zwane and his team gather at Ambassadors Faith Church on Mafusini Street, Tornado, to prepare and distribute the rice packs to the community.
