Shalom Day Care hosts emotional thanksgiving to honour learners
Shalom Day Care Centre held a heartfelt celebration to honour young learners, appreciate teachers, and carry forward a legacy of holistic child development.
Kwa-Thema – Shalom Day Care Centre recently held its thanksgiving event at Ntokozweni Primary School. The event received support and sponsorship from Umbilini Organics, 5 Shafts Productions, and Amanda Catering.
The purpose of the event was to express gratitude to the learners and to present certificates in recognition of their hard work throughout the year. It was also a special occasion to bid farewell to the learners going to Grade R next year.
“This celebration aimed to show parents that children can achieve anything when given opportunities and support.
“At Shalom Day Care Centre, we believe that every child is unique, and we therefore present certificates to all our learners to recognise their individual strengths and progress.
“We value each learner’s personal journey and celebrate their growth in their own way,” said the centre’s principal, Sharon Skosana.
“We also expressed appreciation to our dedicated teachers for their role in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment.
“Our gratitude extends to the parents as well, for their continued support and for ensuring the smooth running of the centre.”
Skosana mentioned that this was their first successful event without her mother, Nomvula Skosana, the centre’s founder.
She highlighted that hosting this event was both emotional and meaningful, as it reflected her mother’s lasting legacy and vision for holistic child development.

“We are grateful to Ntokozweni Primary School for providing us with the venue. The event proved that investing time and resources in early childhood education is never a waste but is an investment in our children’s future.
“At Shalom Day Care Centre, we are committed to developing children holistically and to recognise their achievements, no matter how big or small.
“We understand that children grow and develop at different paces, which is why each learner is celebrated for their individual progress,” she explained.
One of the centre’s biggest goals is to inspire children to see themselves as important, supported, and lovable individuals.
The purpose of this event was to encourage children to thrive as individuals, rather than compete with others.
