Foreverliving Chriis aims to redefine SA hip-hop with heart and hustle
From dancing in the streets of Kwa-Thema to producing for big names, Foreverliving Chriis is crafting a unique sound rooted in purpose, passion, and lyrical depth.
Kwa-Thema-born Christopher Ndwandwe, known to fans as Foreverliving Chriis, is proving that passion, perseverance, and purpose can turn dreams into reality.
He is on a mission to redefine South African hip-hop by blending lyrical depth with rhythm and innovative sounds. Christopher’s music journey began as a member of a hip-hop dance group.
“One of my friends came up with the idea of making our own song to dance to. From there, we started writing lyrics and reciting from existing songs. That is how I learnt how to construct lyrics,” he explained.
At the age of 14, Christopher recorded his first demo with friends, marking the start of his career.
“I am heavily driven by hip-hop, drawing influence from global icons like Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, J Cole, Smino, A-Reece, and AKA.
“I also incorporate elements of Afrobeat and upbeat sounds because I don’t like limiting myself. Growing up in a unique environment inspired my individuality.
“My surroundings motivated me, and I have always been a unique child wanting something that would make me stand out,” he said.
Christopher has collaborated with talented artists such as Jandas, Marsbaby, Eeque, Blxck Kid, Usimamane, Sabo X, and Blaklez. He produced Arrested Development by Blaklez featuring Sabo X and released his own single Shut Up.
Recently, he co-produced a project for Sabo X alongside Tctee, featuring several major names in the rap scene.
He is working on his second EP and preparing to release his first solo single, Angeke.
“Angeke is a deeply personal track reflecting my current mindset. It’s about where I am mentally and that nothing and no one can stop me,” he added. The single is set to drop by the end of October.

Christopher has performed at major events, including the 2023 Sneaker Exchange and the 2025 Manifest x Esjandeni event at Carnival City.
“My goal is to be the best hip-hop artist and producer in South Africa. I want the world to see my work, create a voice for artists like me, and show kids in my neighbourhood that it’s possible to do something different and succeed,” he said.
Reflecting on the lessons music has taught him, Christopher said, “Music has taught me Ubuntu and how to understand others because we come from different worlds and fight different battles. It taught me to stop chasing perfection and focus on consistency. To love and believe in myself.”
Fashion, music, and art remain at the centre of his world.
“I approach my music like art and fashion. Not everyone will understand it, but those who do will really appreciate it.”
