From hobby to headliner: C-TRIX talks amapiano, inspiration, and his journey in music
Kwa-Thema-born producer C-TRIX, known for his unique sound and genre-blending style, shares how music changed his life and opened doors he never imagined.
Kwa-Thema – born Siyabonga Nkosi (23), widely known as C-TRIX, discovered his love for music while still in high school.
This is when he first introduced himself to rap. What began as a hobby, singing for friends, quickly turned into a passion after one friend encouraged him to pursue music professionally.
Taking that encouragement to heart, Siyabonga has carried it with him ever since. Siyabonga is an amapiano producer, though he frequently experiments with other genres, including Afro tech, hip-hop, R’n’B, and jazz.
His passion for amapiano music ignited in 2018, after hearing Kabza De Small’s Set at a Rock Da Shades event.

“That is how the artist became my source of inspiration. My music journey is deeply inspired by listening to music and realising the creative impact it has on me. Music allows me to express myself without using words,” Siyabonga explained.
He draws inspiration from artists such as A-Reece, Zoocci Coke Dope, De Mthuda, and Kelvin Momo. Over the years, he has collaborated with notable musicians including DBN Gogo, DJ Jaivane, Nia Pearl, Thatohatsi, Leandra Vert, MJ, and DJ Stopper. Looking ahead, he hopes to work with Kabza De Small, Jorja Smith, Mashudu, Black Coffee, and Nontokozo Mkhize.
Siyabonga has released several tracks, including Rough Dance featuring DJ Stopper, DBN Gogo, Subzero JNR, and Zack SA last year. On October 10, he released Imibuzo with DJ Stopper, Casey Ntuli, and Tidal Deep.

He is also set to drop a new track titled Tycoon with MJ, featuring Khalil Harrison and DBN Gogo. His vision is to set the tone through his sound and create timeless music.
His mission is to make people happy and support them through tough times, simply by listening to his music.
“My goal is to master and perfect my craft, and I am open to learning something new every day. I want my music to be recognised worldwide. I like that my music has a distinct flavour; I try to incorporate different genres and live instruments into it,” he shared.
Reflecting on his journey, Siyabonga concluded, “Music has contributed drastically to my life. It has opened doors and given me access to rooms I never imagined myself in.”
