Langaville Health Day empowers residents to take charge of their wellbeing

A community-driven health day awareness event at Gospel Healing Care Center empowered Langaville residents with knowledge and practical tools to improve their mental and physical well-being.

Tsakani – Thapelo Motaung, in partnership with the Gospel Healing Care Centre in Langaville, recently hosted a Health Day Awareness event, which was sponsored by the Nkosinathi Mbonani Foundation.

The purpose was to empower the community with knowledge and resources to recognise when to seek help, understand the signs of mental and physical health challenges, and take practical steps toward healing and wholeness.

Various speakers addressed the mental and physical aspects of health and their related challenges. Fitness instructor and dietitian Nomsa Molise talked about the importance of healthy eating and regular exercise.

Sinqobile Zulu, a professional therapist, provided practical strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and depression.

“One of the day’s key achievements was this: challenging common misconceptions about health and fitness,” said Motaung.

“Many in Langaville believe that nutritious food and regular exercise are luxuries only the wealthy can afford. This event shattered that myth, demonstrating that wellness is achievable for all.

“Free consultations and practical guidance empowered residents to make sustainable lifestyle changes with the resources available to them.”

Motaung also explained that hosting the event in the township was a deliberate decision. He said they aim to bring education and health services closer to those who often have the least access and to communities where unhealthy food options are most common.

“We pray that the Lord provides more food, water, and fruit so that we can host a better event next time. The broader goal of this initiative reaches beyond the event itself.

“We aim to reduce suicides, prevent substance abuse, help individuals process past traumas, and nurture a community with stronger mental and physical well-being. Everyone deserves a soft life – one where mental and physical health are stable and protected,” he added.

The organisers hope to continue hosting the event annually and to expand its reach, offering ongoing support, health check-ins, and workshops throughout the year.
