DJ Maro celebrates birthday by donating essentials to Tsakani learners
DJ Maro marks his birthday by uplifting learners with essential school supplies.
Tsakani – While many celebrate birthdays with parties, local Soul and RnB DJ Bongani “DJ Maro” Mlangeni marked his special day on October 27 by spreading kindness and hope to learners in need.
Through his DJ Maro Foundation, Mlangeni delivered donations to Khombindlela Primary, Buhlebemfundo Secondary, and Matshideso LSEN Schools, providing learners with essential school supplies.
“This year we managed to reach three schools. We created 150 dignity packs containing sanitary pads, roll-on, and bath soap, and we also delivered more than 100 pairs of school shoes,” he said.
Mlangeni said his motivation comes from personal experience.

“I’ve always known that not everyone has access to the basics. Even in school, I could see the difference between those who had and those who didn’t,” he shared.
Since launching the initiative in 2021, Mlangeni has steadily expanded his outreach. What started as a personal effort grew into a community-driven movement when he opened the project to contributions in 2022.
His foundation has supported several schools, including Phumlani Primary, Thuthukani Primary, and Funukukhanya Primary, donating school shoes, shirts, sanitary pads, toiletries, and stationery.
Mlangeni expressed gratitude to community supporters, particularly MKP Tsakani and Spar Tsakani Mall, for their continued partnership in making the project a success.
