Local players gain skills at AC Milan Junior Camp
Thirty-eight young soccer players from Duduza took part in the AC Milan Junior Camp in Bedfordview, where they were exposed to professional coaching, teamwork, discipline, and personal development both on and off the field.
Duduza – Thirty-eight soccer hopefuls joined the AC Milan Academy for the AC Milan Junior Camp at Greek Sporting Club in Bedfordview, from October 6 to 13.
Zanokuhle Dlamini (15) said the experience was life-changing and reminded him to stay in school.
“I learned so much from the camp, but respect stands out for me. I learned to respect my elders and coaches.
“I also learned to be kind to my fellow players.
“We need to share our resources, because one I might have something, but another day I might need something that someone else has.
“I was also reminded of the importance of prayer because God is the source of our talents,” explained Dlamini.
The event provided local coaches with the opportunity to be educated by two coaches from AC Milan.
“They covered several topics, including technical approaches and motor games. They showed us exactly how to train the players on how to handle the ball, and how to identify the strengths.
“We watch the young ones play and allow them to make mistakes and express themselves on the ball.
“There is no bad player, but there are bad coaches. They taught us the importance of discipline and involvement,” said Johannes Mokeona of Clever Boys Academy.

He said he enjoyed networking with different coaches from around the country.
“We shared our experiences, and I learned from them, and I know that we will build real relationships. The exposure will help our players to grow,” he said.
He thanked AULDA for the sponsorship, which included participation fees, meals and transport to the venue.
“Our players would not have made it to the camp because of the costs. Our group only had one female player, and she is on to look out for. So we are very grateful for their contribution,” said Mokoena.
All the players received certificates of participation and kits.
