New champions rise as Ama-Ubber edge out RDP in season finale
After weather delays and a tight points race, Ama-Ubber clinched the Tsamaya League title, ending RDP’s long-standing streak at the top.
Kwa-Thema – The Tsamaya Social Football League’s 2025/2026 season ended in dramatic fashion on Sunday when Ama-Ubber clinched the title in a tight finish.
The final round of matches was initially set for November 23 but was postponed to November 30 due to heavy rains.
According to Mosia Manku, the organisation’s secretary, this is the first time Ama-Ubber has claimed the league crown.
“This is the first time this team wins the league. RDP were the standing champions for years; they dominated. This season, unfortunately, they lost the league in their last game,” he said.
Heading into the final match day, RDP were leading the log with 66 points, with Ama-Ubber close behind on 64 points.
The decisive fixtures saw the standings flip, securing Ama-Ubber’s historic victory after they beat City Royals by three goals to two.
RDP lost 3-1 to Verbal Warning.
“We say congratulations to Ama-Ubber for their achievement. The league went on without any hiccups, and everyone worked well together,” said Molefe.
