Joy and achievement mark Smart Kids Aftercare’s annual awards ceremony in Kwa-Thema
Smart Kids Aftercare honoured learners’ achievements with performances, awards and heartfelt messages from parents and educators.
Kwa-Thema – Smart Kids Aftercare hosted its annual awards ceremony on December 5 at House of Virtue Church in Kwa-Thema Ext 2.
The venue was filled with proud parents and guardians who came to celebrate the learners’ achievements.
The ceremony featured a variety of performances and activities, including poem recitals, dancing, and joyful singing.
Learners were awarded across different categories to ensure that each child was encouraged and acknowledged.

Founder and principal Gugu Jele expressed her gratitude and admiration for the learners, emphasising the importance of nurturing children holistically.
“I am incredibly proud of each learner. Their effort, discipline, and joy throughout the year show that Smart Kids is more than an aftercare; it is a second home.
“The achievements celebrated today are a reminder of the bright future the programme continues to build for young children in the community,” she said.
Jele explained that she has witnessed children evolve from January until the end of the year and thanked parents for trusting her with their children, saying each year is a blessing.

A parent, Malibeo Moeti, whose child is in Grade Six, expressed gratitude to the aftercare for helping her child with homework on a regular basis.
“I saw a lot of children attend this afterschool programme and this year I decided to enrol my child there. There has been significant improvement in her schoolwork since the start of the year. Her English has improved greatly, maths is better, and she is now good even in Afrikaans,” she explained.
“I am a happy parent. I advise other parents to enrol their kids as well.”
