In the African Reporter’s December 15, 2000 edition, the following stories appeared:

• A 24-year-old man was arrested for seriously assaulting a two-year old girl for not being able to make her own bed.

The beaten child was airlifted to a Johannesburg Hospital after members of Tsakane CPF and the police were informed.

• A group of children from the Vocational Bible School of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Kwa-Thema West, visited Springs Emergency Services. This was done as part of the church’s holiday programme.

• A two-year-old boy was electrocuted, and died, in Ext 3. A case of culpable homicide was investigated by the police.

• Superintendent Deliwe de Lange (39) was appointed as the station commander for Tsakane SAPS. She admitted that her team needed to be trained on how to appropriately handle the community.

Murder, assault and house break-ins in the area were giving her sleepless nights.
