Kwa-Thema – Tsakane Masters booked their place in the Tsamaya Masters Social League Top 8 after defeating Mzumbe 5–4 on penalties in a pulsating encounter played on Sunday at Tlakula Ground.

The tightly contested match ended in a four-all draw after regulation time, forcing the game to be decided from the penalty spot, where Tsakane held their nerve to seal victory.

Despite the win, Tsakane Masters coach Thulane Ngwenya said the team still has areas that need improvement, particularly in defence.

“We are conceding too many goals, and that is not good. Defending does not start at the back near the goalkeeper.

“It should begin upfront as soon as we lose possession. If we wait until opponents are close to the goalposts, they might score,” said Ngwenya.

Meanwhile, Mzumbe coach Simon ‘Shakes’ Timbane expressed frustration, citing ongoing challenges his team has faced since last season.

“It is sad. It is always sad for us. We make a great effort and spend money to participate, but we feel ill-treated,” Timbane said.

Timbane added that uncertainty now looms over the team’s future participation, as players are becoming increasingly disheartened.
