Kwa-Thema vendor celebrates 40th birthday by giving away 300 party packs
Street vendor Mcedidi Mathathe marked his 40th birthday by handing out 300 party packs to local children, thanking his young customers and encouraging youth to pursue entrepreneurship instead.
Kwa-Thema – What started as a normal morning of selling snacks at the corner of Ntsindi and Thema roads turned into a moment of joy and surprise when a street vendor, Mcedidi Mathathe, decided to give back to the children who support his business every day.
In a heartwarming gesture, he handed out 300 party packs to learners, aiming to put smiles on their faces and show his appreciation for his young customers.
Mathathe was also celebrating his 40th birthday.
“I wanted to give back to the kids because they are my biggest customers. The best feeling was seeing how happy they were, including their parents,” Mathathe said.

The party packs contained cake, sweets, and chocolate. This marked Mathathe’s first charity initiative and he shared that he plans to continue.
“I’ve noticed young people who have been affected by drug use and I want to encourage them to stay away from drugs and instead start small businesses.
“I’m showing the community that it doesn’t take a rich person to make a change, use what you have and all that matters is what is in your heart,” he concluded.
