Couple shot and killed in Masechaba

Buhle Kubeka and her boyfriend Nkululeko Khumalo were shot and killed by unknown men.

Duduza – A long week birthday celebration ended in mourning for Buhle Kubeka on Sunday night.
Buhle (29) and boyfriend Nkululeko Khumalo were shot and killed by unknown men in Masechaba Section.
It is alleged at about 21:30 Nkululeko parked his mini taxi outside Buhle’s grandmother’s home to pick her up to go to his rented room, something that was a norm.
Just moments after Buhle got inside the minibus taxi, two armed unknown men showered the taxi with a hail of bullets.

The couple was certified dead at the scene, and a neighbour was caught in the crossfire and shot in the upper body.
He was rushed to the hospital where he is receiving medical attention.
Buhle’s distraught mother Winnie Kubeka told African Reporter that her daughter was at her happiest all week as if she knew that her death was near.

Nkululeko Khumalo was shot and killed while inside his minibus taxi.

“For a week together with her friends they were celebrating the new year milestone.”
Winnie added that her daughter didn’t deserve to die such a traumatic death.
“She was loved by everyone in the community and always went the extra mile to help those in need. If the killers wanted to kill her boyfriend, why did they wait for her to get inside the taxi before discharging their firearms?
“He waited for Buhle for over 30 minutes to be done helping her grandmother; they could have carried out their mission then.”

Buhle Kubeka was shot and killed by unknown men.

The family is demanding justice for their late daughter and pleading with the police to find and arrest the suspects.
Winnie’s aunt Smangele Kubeka added that their arrest will not bring her back but knowing that they are removed from the community will leave them at ease.
Duduza police spokesperson Sergeant Harry Manaka said they are investigating a double murder.
“The suspects have not been arrested and investigations are still underway. We are pleading with anyone with information about the suspects’ identity or whereabouts to come forward,” he added.
