Second police officer killed in Tsakani in 2 weeks

An off-duty detective was gunned down on October 31, less than two weeks after another officer was killed in his home.

An off-duty sergeant was shot and killed in Tsakani on the evening of October 31.

It is reported the 37-year-old, who was stationed at the Tsakane SAPS Detectives Branch, was killed after being flagged down by two men at the corner of Ndabezitha and Ndawande streets.

The motive of the shooting is unknown at this stage.

A case of murder is under investigation, and police have launched a manhunt for the shooters.

This incident follows the murder of Constable Raymond Mzwakhe Khoza (36), who was fatally shot in the early hours of October 17.

The constable, who was stationed at Brakpan SAPS in the Vispol Unit, was reportedly asleep at his home in Extension 13 when he was called upon to assist a neighbour.

He left his house and went to the neighbour’s property. While attempting to investigate the situation, he was shot multiple times.

Despite his injuries, Khoza managed to flee back to his own home.

Khoza, a nine-year veteran of the SAPS, succumbed to the gunshot wounds in his home.
