Detectives from policing precincts across Ekurhuleni also arrested 228 suspects on July 8 while tracing wanted suspects linked to contact crimes, property-related offences, other serious crimes and gender-based violence.
“The acting district commissioner, Brigadier David Ngcobo, led the main operation in Tsakani, supported by senior officers Brigadier Raymond Buthelezi and Brigadier Johanna Ngoma, the Taxi Task Team, CPF, stakeholders and other law enforcement agencies,” said Sekgobela.

She added that the operation was conducted simultaneously with another operation in Katlehong North under the leadership of Brigadiers Albertina Vesi and Ntombizini Thethe.

Alongside the enforcement operation, members of the Social Crime Prevention Unit and various stakeholders conducted crime awareness campaigns at local shopping centres, distributing safety pamphlets on gender-based violence and other crimes.
Ngcobo thanked SAPS members, law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders for their continued collaboration in the fight against crime across the district.
