EMPD recovers hijacked BMW linked to Daveyton kidnapping in Tsakani

EMPD officers recovered a hijacked car abandoned in Tsakani after recognising it from information circulating on social media.

Tsakani – EMPD Eastern Region Task Team officers, in conjunction with security law enforcement agencies, recovered a reported hijacked motor vehicle in Tsakani on July 13.

The car was recovered at about 16:00 while officers were conducting patrols in the area. According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, officers spotted an abandoned blue BMW.

“The vehicle matched a description that had been circulating on social media, with information that it was hijacked in Daveyton and that the owner had been kidnapped.

“A thorough inspection confirmed that the vehicle was positively linked to the hijacking that occurred in Daveyton,” he explained.

All relevant stakeholders were notified, and the vehicle was taken to the police pound for further investigation.
