Tsakani elders treated to warm meals and care through winter outreach

The initiative was driven by a spirit of compassion, care and appreciation for senior citizens, ensuring they felt valued and supported during the colder months.

Tsakani – The Nkosinathi Mbonani Foundation, in partnership with Herotel, brought warmth and comfort to elderly residents at the Tsakane Day Care Centre by donating warm meals during the winter season on June 17.

The initiative was driven by a spirit of compassion, care and appreciation for senior citizens, ensuring they felt valued and supported during the colder months.

Nkosinathi Mbonani said the outreach formed part of the foundation’s commitment to giving back to those who have contributed immensely to society and continue to be a source of wisdom within communities.

“Winter is a time to keep warm, and a time for good soup,” he said.

“We felt a need to do something special for our elders and what better way than through soup.”

Elders also received snacks and fruit.

Mbonani added that the elderly deserve to be celebrated and cared for, especially during winter when many face challenges brought on by the cold weather.

“Our elders carry a wealth of knowledge, experience and history. It is important that we show them love, respect and appreciation while they are still with us.

“This initiative is not only about providing a meal, but also about reminding them that they are valued members of our community,” he said.

Mbonani expressed gratitude to Herotel for partnering with the foundation and helping make the initiative a success.

“We are thankful to Herotel for joining hands with us to make a difference in the lives of our senior citizens. Together, we can continue bringing hope, warmth and dignity to those who need it most,” he added.

The foundation pledged to continue implementing community upliftment programmes to support vulnerable groups and strengthen community bonds throughout Tsakani and surrounding areas.

Mbonani thanked Herotel for joining hands with him. Marketing coordinator at Herotel, Acype Nontanda, said that Herotel has a community to connect with, care for, and uplift.
