Esibayeni Foundation feeds 67 children in Tsakani to honour Mandela Day
Esibayeni Foundation celebrated Mandela Day by serving 67 kotas to children in Tsakani while reaffirming its commitment to fighting hunger and supporting vulnerable families.
Tsakani – Gugu Mdhluli (37) founded Esibayeni Foundation in 2024 to fight and eliminate hunger in her community.
Gugu Mdhluli’s biggest commitment is to restore hope through practical acts of kindness, whether by feeding people, supporting learners, or encouraging community upliftment.
In commemoration of Mandela Day, Mdhluli fed 67 children within her community. The beneficiaries received kotas (a quarter load of bread filled with a combination of ingredients).
“The 67 Minutes Kota Giveaway made a meaningful impact by bringing the community together in the spirit of Nelson Mandela Day.

“Through the distribution of 67 kotas, we provided more than just a meal but offered hope, dignity, and a reminder that acts of kindness can make a real difference,” said Mdluli.
“These initiatives reflect the foundation’s mission to feed the hungry.
“On behalf of the Esibayeni Foundation, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported our Mandela Day initiative.”
Mdhluli mentioned that the supporters’ kindness, generosity, and willingness to serve made a meaningful difference in the lives of many.

She said their work does not end on Mandela Day, adding that they remain committed to uplifting the community through programmes that provide hope and opportunities for those in need.
“In the coming months, we will continue with initiatives such as our Back-to-School Drive, community outreach, food support, and youth development programmes.
“We invite individuals, businesses, and organisations to partner with us by donating school shoes, backpacks, stationery, sanitary towels, breakfast essentials, and other items that can help us support vulnerable families.
“Together, we can build a stronger, caring, and united community where no one is left behind,” she concluded.
